Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a painful disorder, often misdiagnosed that affects up to 3% of the population. The overwhelming majority of reported sufferers are women, making up roughly 85% of the total. This disorder consists of chronic pain in the muscles, tendons ligaments and other soft tissues.
These physical pains are frequently coupled with trouble sleeping and difficulty with concentration. Based on this combination of discomfort and mental stress, performing even the simplest of daily tasks can be extremely painful and sometimes impossible, leaving sufferers incapacitated with little energy.

Signs You Might Have Fibromyalgia

The symptoms are numerous and are frequently misdiagnosed. Often, only experiencing one of the issues listed below does not necessarily equate to the presence of Fibromyalgia, however if you suffer from multiple symptoms, it is quite possible this disorder may be the underlying reason.

Limited Range of Motion
Pains when attempting to perform certain tasks relating to range of motion are often found in both arthritis sufferers as well as those affected by Fibromyalgia.

Memory Loss
Difficulty recalling simple information, often referred to as “Fibro Fog”, is a frequent symptom sufferers have experienced.

Muscle Spasms
Sporadic, involuntary muscle spasms or “twitches” have been noted as common symptom.

Numbness or Tingling
The “pins & needles” feeling associated with extremities is often found in patients suffering from both Fibromyalgia and arthritis.

Headaches
Experiencing headaches alone may not necessarily be related to Fibromyalgia, however when found in conjunction with other related symptoms, it could prove to be a specific factor.

Swelling
When Fibromyalgia is present, often the joints, limbs and extremities will become swollen.

Sleep Disturbances
Due to the constant pain found in the various joints, deep, comfortable sleep is often difficult to achieve from both Fibromyalgia and arthritis sufferers.

Fatigue
A by product of restless sleep, fatigue carries over into the waking hours, resulting in limited energy for physical tasks or mental concentration.

Jaw Tenderness
A sore jaw, often mimicking a toothache with no related cause has been noted in certain sufferers.

Increased Urination
Although found in other conditions, when frequent urination is prevalent with a variety of other symptoms, Fibromyalgia may be the cause.

Nausea
Sporadic bouts of nausea unrelated to any other diagnosed condition, when noted in conjunction with other Fibromyalgia symptoms.

Extreme Sensitivity to Light
Many sufferers have commented on their sudden sensitivity to light that otherwise did not pose any issues.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Again, incidents of IBS, when found alongside other noted symptoms, could be contributed to Fibromyalgia.
